Putrajaya is known as the administrative capital of Malaysia, but the city offers so much more to tourists, residents, and vacationers. Located just 30 kilometres south from the splendid city of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya offers a look inside Malaysia that no other city can offer. Here you can tour the government buildings, connect with the inner workings of the country, and take a look inside the culture of the Malaysian people. Do not get the wrong idea about Putrajaya either. Just because it is an administrative hub doesn’t mean that it’s disqualified from being one of the most beautiful places on earth. The entire city has maintained around 40% of its natural beauty while development has been designed to perfection.

Lush greenery surrounds you as you walk down the streets, botanical gardens emit a satisfying smell, and large wetlands and bodies of water circle the area in a picture perfect way. A stroll through the city of Putrajaya will truly make you question whether you are on Earth or in Heaven. While the natural look and feel of the unique city is the main attraction, a trip to Putrajaya is not complete without touring the administrative architectural pieces dotted around the entire city.

The Perdana Putra

This complex revolves around the office of the Malaysian Prime Minister and is larger than life. Considering the fact that admission is free, as long as you bring your passport, there is no reason not to take a look around and get a feel for the inner workings of Malaysia.

The Putra Mosque

If you really want to get in touch with the real Malaysia and delve into the Culture, then the Putra Mosque in Putrajaya is a must see. The Mosque itself can accommodate 15,000 worshippers and the bright, pink colour is a bright spot of surprising beauty.

Seri Perdana

Once you have taken a look around the Prime Minister’s office, the official residence has to be your next stop. The residence is mind numbingly large and is truly an architectural masterpiece. While it is closed to the public as of 2009, an exterior glance is still well worth the trip to Putrajaya.

Aside from the governmental and cultural attractions in Putrajaya, other must sees when taking a Malaysia vacation are all of the monuments and gardens. In Putrajaya it all starts with the Taman Putra Perdana.

This stunning park located atop a hill offers the most unforgettable views in the entire city. The Putrajaya Landmark looks identical to the hat of a wizard and is rolled entirely from tinfoil. Unique to say the least, it makes for the perfect photo opportunity. If that isn’t enough to satisfy the tourist inside of you then take a stroll to the Millenium Monument, a 68 meter high statue in the form of a hibiscus flower that documents the entire history of Malaysia. If you truly want to understand Malaysia, this is the place to be.

While Putrajaya may not be the first place to pop into people’s heads when they think about the best travel destinations in the world, it should not be ignored. A Malaysia vacation is not complete unless you experience the incredible history, get in touch with the richness of their culture, and understand the inner workings of the country. You can do all three with a quick jaunt through Putrajaya, and it will be a trip that you will never forget.

malaccaMalacca can truly be described in two words: vibrant and historic. In fact a visit to the area is so unique and memorable that the area was designated as a World Heritage Site in 2008. Simply touring the private shops and houses that were placed around the area by Chinese traders is an experience worth the journey. The careful architecture and master planning makes the area incredibly unique, and a true spectacle to see. Just one thing to make note of, everything tends to close down on Tuesdays so if you are planning on taking a trip here, try to make it a weekend.

If you truly want to experience what Malacca has to offer then the heritage areas are the first place that you want to head, and will probably offer the most memorable experiences and unforgettable pictures.

Stadthuys

This site was finalized in 1660 and is home to the historical museum. It is a building that is rich in culture and history and is a must see for any history buff or intrigued tourist.

Churches, Temples and Mosques of Malacca

Between St. Paul`s Church, Christ Church, the Sultanate Palace, the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple and the Masjid Kampung Hulu, there are more than enough religious sites to satisfy the intrigue of any world traveler. Cheng Hoon is the oldest Chineste temple in all of Malaysia and the Kampung Hulu is by far one of the oldest mosques still in tact in the area. The architecture and the stories that waft out from the inside of these spots are not to be missed and bringing home pictures of these spots will make you the envy of anyone and everyone.

In fact, there are so many historical sites such as churches, temples, and memorable sites that they cannot even all be listed in one article. Any Malaysia vacation to Malacca is unique in and of itself, and is entirely what you make of it. There are so many places to stop in that you could take a vacation here four times over and not even realize you are in the same place. In fact, you can make a detailed list of places to see and things to do outside of town as well, if it is possible for any traveler to grow tired of what the central part of town has to offer.

If you want a unique experience, Malacca is the place you need to be.

Even if churches and historical sites are not enough to tempt you into a tour of Malacca, there are an infinite amount of other, exciting things to do. Consider viewing the town from the Taming Sari Revolving Tower or sit back and enjoy a 45 minute Melaka River Cruise that shows you the heart of Melaka and informs you about the days of the Golden Era. If that seems to be interesting but not quite thrilling enough then take a quick jaunt over to the Pirate Ship in Melaka where you can take a ride and think back to yesteryears.

In reality, Malacca deserves to be at the top of the list of top vacation destinations, especially for those looking to get a little bit more out of their vacation. Get in touch with history, learn about days gone past, entrench yourself in culture, and reward your eyes with scenery so beautiful it looks fake. No trip to Malacca is ever the same, and you have the opportunity to make your vacation here an incredibly unique one.
