Malaysia itself is located in Southeast Asia and the capital is Kuala Lumpur. The country shares its border with Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore and Thailand. One of the more interesting facts about Malaysia is that while it is known for such sights at the Petronas Towers, it is also classified as one of the 18 most diverse countries in the world. This is in large part due to the varied range of wildlife and plants in the area. In terms of the climate one can expect rain showers at any time while the weather is tropically hot all year round. Each day can get up to 35 degrees at any time while the nights offer cool yet comfortable weather.
In terms of the government in Malaysia, the country utilizes a federal constitutional elective monarchy. The population has grown to over 25 million and is on the rise every year. When it comes to religion the country also offers quite a bit of diversity as people follow Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and others. While Malay is the official language there are a large number of citizens who speak English as well.
Travel and Living in Malaysia
In comparison to a number of other countries Malaysia is definitely on the rise and has been able to hide a bit from the recession. The recent economic boom has lead to an increased GDP that has grown to over $14,000 per capita. In terms of jobs, there are opportunities for expats to land positions in industries such as manufacturing, IT, tourism or through government jobs within the chamber of commerce or an embassy. The trouble is that it can be quite difficult to obtain a work visa unless you have a specified trade. In terms of what sort of salary you can expect, on average people make between $1,000 and $1,500 Malaysian Ringgits each year.
If you are looking to take a vacation to Malaysia then the best time of year is said to be right between June and August. This of course does vary for personal opinion although you do want to may be steer clear of the country around December and January. The booming economy, acceptance of tourists and generally low cost of living has ensured that Malaysia is and will continue to be a vacation paradise for people all over the world.
